Medieval Siena

Siena once was the main opponent of Florence in terms of economy, politics and art. Being on the trade and pilgrimage route, via Francigena, leading from France to Rome, Siena was heavily influenced by the Gothic style, what is reflected in its graceful and elegant architecture.

During our visit to Siena we will walk through main streets, and through nooks and crannies of the city. You will learn why there are so many Roman She-Wolfs in Siena, what were the laws, the games and everyday life in the Middle Ages, why did the government of Siena collapse and how did Siena fall into the hands of the Florentines.

We will visit the Siena's Cathedral (from 8 euros), striking with its splendor and amazing patterned stone floor, and on your request the Museum of the City Hall (9 euros), famous for its allegorical frescoes.

At Piazza il Campo we will breathe the atmosphere of Palio di Siena, a horse race, which takes place twice a year, but the preparation for it lasts all the year long, and it is extremely prestigious to win the race, even if it's highly expensive economically.

The serene and cozy atmosphere of this city is relaxing and invites you to stop and enjoy the moment.
